Experiment started smoking, what gas was it?

I had Ca(OH)2, to which I added HCl (18M). To neutralize that I added NH3 (15M). However, the beaker started to pour off a smelly, smoky looking gas. I realized that the Ca(OH)2 completely dissociated to CaCl2, but I cannot find any chemical equations for the gas that was produced. And is the gas dangerous?
