Painting a design & lettering on a T-shirt?

I want to put a design on a t-shirt, in gold metallic colors, black, red, etc..are there any specific paints for fabric (or other things) I can use that won't fade out after I wash the t-shirt? Can you get things that iron-on to fabric, or are there stick-on decals I can use?
